Congratulations to our 14U Bantam Major (2007) team on winning the 2021 ECC Prep Cup held at Avon Old Farms and Westminster School this past weekend. After losing the first game in the 10 team preliminary round, the team rallied back with solid wins and finished 2nd overall going into the playoff round. The semi-final game was a little closer than preferred. With the goalie pulled and the extra attacker on the ice, the team (with some goaltending heroics) was able to successfully kill off a minor penalty in the last 2 minutes of the game and come out victorious with the 2-1 win. In the finals later that afternoon, the team went up against the VT Dynamo who had upset the 1st overall team to advance to the finals. The team came out firing on all cylinders and from the first puck drop, was able to dominate all aspects of the game. The final score was 6-2 and the team was awarded champions of the ECC Prep Cup Blue Division.

The Hauppauge, NY native has played forward and defense his entire career. Hagens is a mobile, puck moving defender. In 25 games last season on the Mount 15 Only squad, he registered three goals and eight assists. The LI Royals and the LIAHL want to wish him the best of luck in his future career.

Calgary Flames selected forward Matthew Coronato with the 13th-overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.

Coronato is a talented goal scorer who was named 2021 USHL Forward of the Year after his second season with the Chicago Steel.
